Hello mate,
Pneumatophores or respiratory roots are short, vertical and negatively geotropic roots which occur in mangrove plants. The roots come out of swamp. Their upper ends bears lenticels for exchange of gases. Avicennia, Heritiera, Rhizophora and Sonneratia are some examples of plants producing pneumatophores.

Answer:
Pneumatophores are specialized root structures that grow out from the water surface and facilitate the aeration necessary for root respiration in hydrophytic trees such as many mangrove species (e.g., Avicennia germinans and Laguncularia raecemosa), bald cypresses, and cotton (tupelo) gum (Nyssa aquatica).
Hope it Helps !!!!
