Rabi crops are the crops that are sown at the end of monsoon or at the beginning of winter season, e.g. between September and October. These crops are also known as winter or spring crops. These crops are not affected by the rainfall. Major Kharif crops are rice, maize, cotton, jowar, bajra etc.

  • Crops which grow during winter season ( November to April ) is known as Rabi crops.
  • This crops are also known as winter crops.
  • Crops are not depend on rainfall pattern.
  • Example - Grams, mustard, peas and linseed

Kharif crops :-

  • Crops which grow during rainy season (June to October ) is known as Kharif crops.
  • This crops are also known as monsoon crops.
  • Crops depend on the rainfall pattern.
  • Example - Paddy, maize, cotton, urad/moong.
