RBCs

✴Full form of RBCs is Red Blood Cells .

✴They contain haemoglobin, a red pigment , which helps to carry oxygen to every part of the body .

✴They are also called Erythrocytes.

✴They are the most abundant cells in the blood.

✴They are produced in the red bone marrow present in the long bones

✴They are biconcave discs without a nucleus.

✴They have a lifespan of 120 days.

Function- Oxygen combines with haemoglobin to form oxyhaemoglobin. Carbon dioxide too combines with haemoglobin to form carbaminohaemoglobin. Thus their main function is to transport the respiratory gases.
