Redshift' is a key concept for astronomers.the term can be understood literally -the wavelength of the light is stretched,so the light seen as 'shifted' toward the red part of the spectrum.

'Blueshift ' A blueshift is any decrease in wavelength (increase in energy),with a corresponding increase in frequency, of an electromagnetic waves,the opposite effect is reffered to as redshift . In visible light, this shifts the colour from the red end of the spectrum to the blue end
