Answer...

  • RER stands for Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum .it is involved in the protein synthesis and secretion . it is extensive and continuous with the outer membrane of the nucleus .

  • SER stands for Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum . its major function is in in the synthesis of lipids and helps in detoxification . in animal cells steroid hormones are synthesized here.

ANSWER

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum

RER was also mentioned in the section on ribosomes and very important in the synthesis and packinging of proteins. Ribosomes are attached to the membrane of the ER, making it rough. The RER is also attached to the nuclear envelope that surrounds the nucleus. This direct connection between the perinuclear space & the lumen of the ER allows for the movement of molecules through both membrane.

Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum

SER acts as a storage organelle. It's important in the creation and storage of lipids and steroids. Steroids are a type of ringed organic molecule used for many purposes in an organism. They are not always about building the muscle mass of a weight lifter. Cells in your body that release oils also have more SER than most cells.

hope it helps ☺️
