Ribosomes - Protein Factories of Cell

Ribosomes are smallest and spherical organelles. They are not bounded by membrane. They occur either scattered in the cytoplasm or attached to the Surface of Endoplasmic Reticulum forming rough Endoplasmic reticulum (RER) Hence, Rough Endoplasmic reticulum have grainly or rough appearance. These formed of ribosomal RNA and proteins.

Functions of Ribosomes -

These are the sites for protein synthesis, hence called the Protein Factory of the cell.
