According to the Eighth Amendment of the Indian Constitution, the scheduled and non-scheduled languages are the following;


(i) Scheduled Languages:


The scheduled languages are the languages which the government is bound to develop. The Indian government is obligated to develop twenty-two languages which are;

Assamese , Bengali, Bodo , Dogri , Gujarati , Hindi , Kannada , Kashmiri , Konkani , Maithili , Malayalam , Manipuri , Marathi , Nepali , Odia , Punjabi , Sanskrit , Santali , Sindhi , Tamil , Telugu , Urdu.



(ii) Non-Scheduled Languages:


These are the languages that do not have the official status by the government of India. These languages are not used in the country and the government is not bound to develop them.

The scheduled languages of according to Indian Constitution:


Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telegu, Urdu. Non-scheduled languages are Mundari, Ho, Kharia, Korku, Bhumji, Khasi, Gabada, Murmi, Magari, Lepcha, Naga, Lushai, Mikir, DAfla, Khamti Abor, Savara etc.
