Social advertising has probably got big once people realized the power of the internet… but it basically the same as always - it relies on social media or social networks to deliver marketing info , like your ads…

As you know , all big online companies now days collect social information, establish and maintain relationships with consumers so they can deliver the RIGHT ads to them… in the RIGHT time

All the Social Media companies - like Facebook , Twitter , Instagram, LinkedIn etc - all use a lot of techniques , like cookies & keeping info of everything they know about you in their database - to target your needs , so they can present ADS based on it.

Social advertising can be part of a broader social media marketing strategy designed to connect with consumers.

But even Word Of Mouth is considered Social Advertisement , and in many cases it can go viral just like that… and companies often will pay people to “spread the word”… but this technique was used for many years… even before the Internet :)
