A suspension is a heterogeneous mixture in which the solute particlesdo not dissolve but get suspended throughout the bulk of the medium.

Properties of suspension are as follows:

Suspension is a heterogeneous mixture

.The particles of a suspension can be seen by the naked eye.

The size of suspended particles is more than 1000nm

.The particles of a suspension scatter a beam of light passing through it and make its path visible.

The solute particles settle down when a suspension is left undisturbed, that is, a suspension is unstable.

They can be separated from the mixture by the process of filtration.

hello there!!!!

The heterogeneous mixtures in which the components or constituents are present in more than one phase are of two types:- Suspension and Colloidal solutions.

Suspension may be defined as a heterogeneous mixture in which the solid particles are spread throughout the liquid without dissolving in it. They settle as precipitate if the suspension is left undisturbed for sometime.

Properties of suspension

1) A Suspension is of particle nature. These are two phases. The solid particles represent one phase while the liquid in which these are suspended or distributed forms the other phase.

2) Particles size in a suspension is more than 100nm ( 10 ^-7m).

3) Particles can be seen by the naked eye and also under the microscope.

Hope it helps you
