Hey mate
Here is your answer :--
According to astronomical research,
There are 8 phases of moon and not 15
They are as follows:-
1) New Moon:- This is the beginning of the moon phases
2) Waxing Crescent :- During this phase, the moon travels east in the sky.
3) First Quarter :- This is the next phase of lunar cycle. You can see a half moon in this phase
4) Waxing Gibbous Moon:- In this phase the moon is almost near to be seen complete circle
5) Full moon :- Complete circled moon can be seen in this phase
6) Wanning Gibbous :- Here the moon's shape starts decreasing
7) Third Quarter :- The moon appears half in this phase too. Just it is opposite to the First Quarter
8) Wanning Crescent :- This is the final stage of lunar cycle
The cycle starts with the new moon again
Hope this help you mate and if you have any more queries just let me know in the comments
