The 3 states of matter are:

1)SOLID- It has a definite volume and shape. The particles are so closely packed that they can only vibrate about their mean position.

2) LIQUID-It has a definite volume but does not have a definite shaped .The particles are loosely packed as compared to the solid state.

3)GASEOUS - It neither have a definite shape nor a definite volume. The particles are very far apart that they move in any direction.
