Ionic Compounds: Those compounds which loses electrons while the combination of atoms to attain nearest noble gas configuration form ionic bonds.Ionic compounds are held together with electrostatic forces.
5 chemical properties of Ionic Compunds are:
1) Ionic compounds have high melting point because there bond formation is very strong.
It's electrostatic forces of attraction is very strong.
2) In solid state they do not conduct electricity. But there aqueous solutions are very good conductors of electricity and heat.
3) They form crystals.
4) They are hard because the atoms between them let it to be closer and because of it's electrostatic forces it is forced to be closer.
5) They can vaporise 10 to 100 times better then molecular compounds.
Hope it'll be helpful.
