Consumers are protected by the Consumer Bill of Rights. The bill states that consumers have the right to be informed, the right to choose, the right to safety, the right to be heard, the right to have problems corrected, the right to consumer education, and the right to service.
Explaination:
Consumer Rights are under consumer Protection Act,1986.It is implemented by the government of India to protect the interest of the consumer.This Consumer rights give security to the consumer from any unfair means which is used in the trade or in market.
Some of the consumer rights are listed below:-
1.Right to Safety: This rights gives the consumer right to be be protected against the marketing of goods and services which are harmful to life and property.This right provide safe and secure life.
Example:Defects in gas cylinder is hazardous to life and property.This Right protects us from these.
2.Right to Choice : Every consumer has the Right to choose the goods and Services of his want no one can forcefully upon them.The Producer or supplier should not force to buy a particular product of a particular brand.
3.Right to Information: According to this right a consumer has the right to get information about the quality, quantity, standard,price and benefits of the goods which they want to buy.
4.Right to be heard: The consumer has the right to to be heard /show his interest.If a consumer have any complain regarding any product then he has the right to be heard.
5.Right to seek redressal: The consumer has the right to get compensation against any unfair trade practices or any other exploitation.This rights provide justice against any type of exploitation to consumer.
6.Right to consumer education: This rights enables the consumer to acquire the knowledge and skills so that they may get aware about their rights and take action whenever they in need.An illiterate consumer is unaware about their rights
