1) Epigastric region (epigastrium)

2) Left hypochondrium (LHC)

3) Right hypochondrium (RHC)

4) Umbilical region

5) Left lumbar region

6) Right lumbar region

7) Hypogastric region

8) Right iliac fossa (RIF)

9) Left iliac fossa (LIF)

The entire abdomen( region between the pelvis and thorax) can be divided into three main parts, each of these parts can further be subdivided into three parts again, thereby giving rise to nine different regions in the abdomen.

They are as follows:

1. Upper abdomen-

The right hypochondriac region, epigastric region and the left hypochondriac regions are present.

2. Middle abdomen-

The right lumbar, umbilical region and the left lumbar are present.

3. Lower abdomen-

The right iliac region, hypogastrium and the left iliac region are present.
