Sridharacharya
Sridharacharya is believed to be one of the greatest mathematicians of India. He lived between 870 and 930.
Achievements of Sridharacharya:
- He noticed the use of 0 (zero) in different positions. In addition of 0 (zero) to any number, the result is the number itself. If 0 (zero) is subtracted from any number, the result is the number itself. When a number is multiplied by 0 (zero), the result is 0 (zero) itself.
- The division of any number by any fraction can be found by the product of the number and the reciprocal of the fraction.
- As a mathematician, he was the first person to derive the quadratic formula which helps to find roots of any quadratic equation.
