What are the advantages and disadvantages of superposition theorem
Answers
The superposition theorem states that the total current in any part of a linear circuit equals the algebraic sum of the currents produced by each source separately. In order to evaluate the separate currents to be combined, all other voltage sources should be replaced by short circuits and all other current sources should be replaced by open circuits.
Advantages - It is applicable to the elements of the network as well as to the sources. It is very useful for circuit analysis. It is utilized to convert any circuit into its Thevenin equivalent or Norton equivalent.
Disadvantages - Superposition is applicable to current and voltage but not to power. It cannot be used for unbalanced bridge circuits.
