ARTIFICIAL PROPAGATION IN PLANTS :
- Cutting : some plants can grow individually when a piece of the parent plant having bud is cut off from the existing plant. The lower part of this cutting i burried in moist soil. After a few days, the cut parts having buds grows as an individual plant after developing roots...Ex: Rose, Hibiscus
- Layering : A branch of the plant with atleast one node is bent towards the ground and a part of it is covered with moist soil leaving the tip of the branch exposed above the ground. After a few days, new roots develop from the part of the branch buried in the soil ...The buried branch is then cut off from the parent plant...The part which has developed roots grow to bcome a new plant Ex: Nerium, Jasmine
- Grafting : Grafting is a technique of inserting a part of one plant into another plant in such a way that both will unite and continue their growth....two plants of same species are required,,,,IT helps to pressure and perpetuate varieties that cannot reproduce ,,,it is used to obtain a plant with desirable characters......THE STOCK AND SCION are joined such that both will unite and continue their growth as a single plant ......
