Answer:

Trigonometry is the study of a branch of mathematics

related to angles and sides of a triangle.

There are six Trigonometry ratios :

sin theta , cos theta , tan theta, cosec theta

sin theta , cos theta , tan theta, cosec thetasec theta , cot theta

These ratios can be further defined as:

Sin theta = Opposite side / Hypotenuse...........(1)

Cos theta = Adjacent side / hypotenuse ..........(2)

Tan theta = Opposite side/ adjacent side.........(3)

Cosec theta = Hypotenuse / Opposite side...........(4)

Sec theta = Hypotenuse / Adjacent side...........(5)

Cot theta= Adjacent side / Opposite side........(6)

From (1) And (4) ,we can observe that

Sin theta = 1/ cosec theta and cosec theta = 1/ sin theta

From (2) and (5) , we can observe that

Cos theta =1/ sec theta and sec theta = 1/ cos theta

From (3) and (6) ,

Tan theta = 1/ cot theta and cot theta = 1/ tan theta

This is the basic idea of trigonometry.

Trigonometry, the branch of mathematics concerned with specific functions of angles and their application to calculations. There are six functions of an angle commonly used in trigonometry. Their names and abbreviations are sine (sin), cosine (cos), tangent (tan), cotangent (cot), secant (sec), and cosecant (csc).
