Democracy is a form of government in a sovereign

democracy the ruling or governance of the state or organization is done by the
people.
In small countries or organizations all people can
participate directly in voting or decision making. This is called the direct
democracy. However many countries are big. So people elect their
representatives. They make decisions related to the nation's political,
economic and security affairs.
In democracy all people or citizen have equal rights for speech,
education, employment, residence, holding properties, access to
justice, their own identity, practicing their own religion etc. In
democracy people have fundamental rights related to all these. They have
rights to vote when they acquire the age.

representative and dictatorship/monopoly doesn't set in.
In a democracy usually there are two or more political parties which
compete in elections. The one winning in elections forms government after being
invited by the head of the state or country.
Most importantly, in a democracy there is a written constitution which
is considered as the law. It is to be followed by all citizens and the government.
The constitution protects the rights of the people. The government introduces
changes in the constitution as per the procedure.
