Answers
The Sulabh International Academy of Environmental Sanitation had worked on developing a new technology using which compost from biodegradable waste can be made in just 8 – 10 days. It does not involve any manual handling during the composting process.
The liquid that is collected after biodegradation is collected and is used for agricultural and horticultural purposes.
The manure itself can be used directly for agricultural and horticultural purposes, for land-filling etc.
1. Using such technology helps in efficiently converting organic solid waste into manure which gives economic returns.
2. It helps in eradicating diseases due to waste and garbage.
3. Cartage costs of waste to sites of disposal are reduced.
4. Reduces spread of weeds.
Sulabh compost is one of best products which can be used readily in rural areas for agricultural purposes and it also reduces health hazards.
