In a sense learning maths is like learning a new language. But this time you would be learning the language of logic. It would give you a strong foundation upon which you could start learning the way how nature works. (For example through physics by learning all sorts of interesting phenomena in nature)

Computers run based on mathematical calculation. Everything that you see on your screen is a result of mathematical operations done within the computer's operating system. In order to make your own programs, it is important to understand the mathematical logic behind it.

Furthermore, even if you do not choose a career of a scientist, it is essential in your life. If you want to be a great cook - you have to get the proportions right.

Also, it is important to be financially literate nowadays, meaning that it is important to be able to count, handle money. You cannot earn profits if you cannot count your expenses, income and then make your own budget. Eventually, being bad with calculations could end you up as being poor.

Most of the mathematics can be applied in real life. It is important to keep your eyes open, be open-minded and stay curious. Soon you will see with your own eyes that maths is implemented everywhere.
