Answer:

Clearing out patches of forest near the river in order to cultivate crops and build houses, when done without consideration to the harm done to the natural environment, is the biggest threat to the environment today. When natural environment is exploited over and over, the damage becomes irreparable. A small disturbance due to such exploitation can harm entire ecosystems. Example:- The population of honeybees has drastically reduced since 2006 due to the indiscriminate use of pesticides and due to climate change. Honeybees are critical part of the ecosystem, because flowering plants depend on insects for pollination. Honeybees pollinate most fruits and vegetables all over the world. The market you see today is full of fruits and vegetables, without the bees there will be less/none. Along with honeybees, we will also lose many species of animals, birds and insects that depend on the plants pollinated by honeybees. The extinction of human race will follow soon after.
