♦Hello♦

First of all, What a Earthquake is??

Earthquake is a shaking of earth's surface that results from the sudden release of energy which creates seismic waves.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Causes of Earthquake:

There are 5 major causes:

  • Volcanic Eruptions-Movement of lava beneath the surface of the earth can also cause certain disruptions. This sends shockwaves through the earth, causing damage. These earthquakes are mild.
  • Tectonic Movements- When two plates move away from each other, they correspond to mild earthquakes. When two plates move towards each other and collide, this is known as destructive plate boundaries. This is very destructive.
  • Geological Faults- A geological fault is known as the displacement of plates of their original plane. The plane can be horizontal or vertical. These planes are not formed suddenly but slowly develop over a long period. The movement of rocks along these planes brings about tectonic earthquakes. These faults occur due to the impact of geological forces. The displacement of plates creates the fracturing of rocks, which releases a lot of energy. This type of earthquake can be disastrous.
  • Man Made- The disturbance of crustal balance due to heavy clubbing of water in dams can cause earthquakes. Nuclear bombing can send specific type of shockwaves throughout the surface of the earth.
  • Minor causes- Some minor causes such as landslides, avalanches, the collapse of heavy rocks, etc. can also cause minor shockwaves

 <i > earthquake

=> The earthquake are caused by the moving plates on the earth crust.

⊙ Slide past one another and ,
⊙ Collide with one another

1 ) The plates of the earth crust are made up of huge rocks having rough edges.

2 ) Due to their highly rough edges , the movement of two crust plates relative to one another is not smooth.

3 ) When the two huge plates of earth crust slide past one another , they rub against one another ferociously and the rocks on their edges get entangled.

4 ) Due to the entanglment of the rocks at their edges get edges. Due to the entanglment of the rocks at their edges , the two crust plates stop moving for some time.

5 ) During this time, the plates are. still pushing against one another and trying to move but they are not moving.

6 ) This builds up pressure between the two plates of crust, when sufficient pressure is bull up between the two crust plates the entangled rocks of the two plates break upon with a very big jolt.

7 ) This release a tremendous amount of energy causing earthquake.

THE ANOTHER METHOD .....

1 ) WHEN the two plates of the earth crust moving opposite to each other collide with one another with each other head on , then the ends of this crust plates buckle and fold forming new mountains causing earthquake.

2 ) A tremendous amount of energy is released when the two huge plates of the earth crust collide with each other.

3 ) This tremendous amount of energy sends shock waves called seismic waves throughout the earth.

4 ) When these shock waves reach the surface of earth it starts shaking violently.

5 ) This causes earth quake.

Thanks for asking......
