The causes of failure of the revolt of 1857 are:-

Lack of unity

Absence of faith and leadership plans were main reason behind the failure of this revolt.

There was no plan to work together, different groups fought for different reasons at different places.

Few Indian princes were interested only in restoring their own feudal powers.

British strength

British were too strong in front of Indians.

It was one of the most powerful nation at that time and its armed forces were experienced in warfare and highly trained too in modern methods of fighting.

Leadership

There was no organization and planning, lack of leadership and lack of good leaders was there on the part of Indians.

There, leadership was neither strong nor gave directions to the rebels.
