Due to greenhouse effect, the average temperature of the earth's atmosphere is gradually increasing. This is called global warming.

Consequences of Global Warming

(1) Glaciers will melt at a higher rate and this will lead to rise in the sea level resulting in floods and loss of soil.

(2) Warming of atmosphere often leads to forest fires which have become very common over the years.

Causes of Global Warming are -

(1) Use of fossil fuels such as wood, coal, petrol, etc.

(2) Deforestation.

(3) Use of chlorofluorocarbons.

(4) Incomplete combustion of carbon fuels.

(5) Increasing of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide gases.
