the most important cause is increasing population. ...and also various human activities...people themselves bathe there...and also bathe their animals. ..they also wash their clothes ...a large amount of sewage is drained. ...all the industrial waste without being filtered is drained...during religious events a large amount of people gather there bathe and throw food stuff and leaves ...these are some reasons of pollution in ganga which i know!!!hope this helps
