Poverty can be defined as a situation of one's life in which a person is unable to meet basic needs( like food, clothing and home) for sustenance of his life. The main causes of poverty are:-
• Population:- the rising population rate is the main cause of poverty in India. This increases the rate of illiteracy, lack of financial resources and poor health facilities. High population rates also affect per capita income and per capita income decreases. Like India, it's became the second most populated country in world.
• Poor agricultural infrastructure:- Agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy but old agricultural commodities and even lack of knowledge towards crop care have significantly affected productivity in the region.
- As a result, redundancy and sometimes a lack of work lead to wage reductions that meet the daily needs of a working family that plunges them into unemployment and hence it increases the rate of poverty.
• Unemployment:- it is one of the major economic factor that causes poverty in the nation and raise the unemployment rate. The unemployment rate in India is high. There is neither an education environment nor any means of employment in the villages. Due to this people are forced to flee. So that they decide to migrate to urban areas. Liek the rate of migration is higher than in states like Bihar, Jharkhand or Madhya Pradesh.
