Cell organelles are the small organ like structures which help in the running of the cell. These are called so as they perform various functions which are important for the survival of the cell. There are many cell organelles in a eukaryotic cell like endoplasmic reticulum, golgi apparatus, nucleus, plastid, lydosome, ribosome, etc. but in prokaryotic cells there sre only an few organelles such as the ribosome.

They are located in the cytoplasm of the cell. They float in this liquidy cytoplasm and perform their functions. These organelles along with the cytoplasm are known as protoplasm.
