  • The addition of oxygen to any substance is called oxidation. Also the reduction of hydrogen from a substance is called oxidation reaction.
  • The removal of oxygen from a substance is called reduction . Also the addition of hydrogen to a substance is called reduction.

If one substance gets oxidised in a reaction then the substance other then the oxidised one is oxidising agent and vice Versa.
