characteristics are :

(a) the magnetic field lines are crowded near the pole where the magnetic field is strong on the other hand , magnetic field lines are far away at other place where the magnetic field is weak .

(b) the magnetic field lines are closed continuous curves .

(c) the direction of magnetic field lines outside the magnet is from north pole to South Pole and the direction of the magnetic field lines inside magnet is from South Pole to North Pole .

(d) tangent drawn at any point on the magnetic line of force indicate the directions of the magnetic field at that point.

(e) the magnetic field lines never intersect each other if two magnetic field lines intersect at a point then there will be two tangent at the point this means that at the point of intersection there will be two in direction of the same magnetic field which is not possible hands no two magnetic field lines can be intersect each other .

(f) magnetic field lines are not real yet they represent a magnetic field which is real .

✮ Appropriate Question ✮

  • What are the characteristics of magnetic line force

✮ Required Answer ✮

  • General Properties of Magnetic Lines of Force

  • They never cross one another. They all have the same strength. Their density decreases (they spread out) when they move from an area of higher permeability to an area of lower permeability. Their density decreases with increasing distance from the poles.
