The unbrunt carbon particles becomes hot and emit yellow light. It is the glow of hot carbon particles which makes the middle zone of a flame luminous.

These particles then leave the flameas smoke and soot. This zone is the major part of the flame.

The wax vapour starts burning in this zone the flame is luminous (yellowish in colour) as a oxygen is not available is plenty,So the wax vapour does not burn completely the temperature here is about 1200℃
