Characteristic of the particles of matter -

  • Particles are very small.

  • Particles move continuously.

  • Particles have space between them. ( Interpartical spaces)

  • Paricles attracts each other.

  • Particles are very tiny in the size.

Matter - Anything that occupies space and has mass is called matter.

  • Example - Iron, air, table, pen, chair, fan, ice cube etc.

States of matter -

  • Solid → Liquid → Gas.

Solid

  • Solid have fixed shape as well as fixed volume.
  • The inter particles forces of attraction are strongest in solids.
  • Solids do not flow.

Liquid -

  • Liquid have a fixed volume but do not have fixed shape.
  • Liquids can be diffuse more than solid.
  • The inter particle forces of attraction in liquid are weaker than solids.

Gas -

  • Gas do not have fixed shape and fixed volume.
  • Gases can be easily compressible.
  • Gases have very low densities. They are very light.
