Generally an alloy of lead and Tin is used as material of fuse wire because: ( characteristics are:)

1).its melting point is low (=250 degree Celsius)

2).specific resistance is more than that of Copper Aluminium etc.

Hope you understand

The fuse wire should have high resistance .

It should have low melting point.

It should be thin and short.

The material of the electric fuse is made up of an alloy of lead and tin .

Details :

It is made up of a material which has low melting point.

This will overheat them and make them melt easily.

Thus the fuse can easily break the circuit and save it if there is any excess current flowing in the circuit.

Explanation

The fuse is generally made up of thin piece of wire so that it offers more resistance and it can melt easily.

Thus the fuse works in the heating effect of current.

H = I²Rt

H = heat .

I = Current .

R = resistance .

t = time
