THE OUTBREAK OF REVOLUTION

5th May 1789- Louis XVI called together an assembly of all the estates to pass proposals for new taxes.

First and Second estate comprised of 300 members each whereas third estate had 600 members.

According to the on going principle, voting in the estate was like : 1 ESTATE = 1 VOTE.

But third estate demanded : 1PERSON = 1 VOTE.

This proposal couldn’t be agreed , 3rd estate walked out of the assembly.

20th June- Third estate assembled in the hall of an indoor tennis court in the ground of Versailles and declared themselves a National assembly and drafted a constitution for France that would limit the powers of monarch led by two famous people Mirabeau and Abbe Sliyes.
