The two atoms must be different
Ionisation potential of one atom must be small
Electron affinity of second atom must high
Electronegativity of second atom must be high
Difference in electronegativity must be more than or equal to 1.7
Lattice energy of the ionic compound must be high
Hope it helped u

Question:-
What are the conditions for the formation of an electrovalent bond?
Answer:-
When an ionic compound is formed, the neutral atom is charged to a cation or an anion .The formation of cation and anion depends on following factors:-
- Low ionisation potential - If the ionisation potential of a particle of atom is low,it will lose electrons easily,i.e...a cation is formed easily.
- High electron affinity- If the electrons affinity is high, anion will be formed easily,i.e..a high electron affinity value favours ionic bounding.
- Large electronegativity diffrence- If the diffrence of the electronegitivities of 2 elements is higher ,then the transfer of the electrons will be easily.
Therefore, more the diffrence in electronegativity, more will be the ionic nature of the resulting compounds.
