What are the conditions required by a seed to germinate?

  1. Water
  2. Light
  3. 0xygen
  4. Temperature

Seed germination starts with imbibition, when the seed takes in water from the soil.

This triggers root growth to allow the seed to get more water.

Answer:

All seeds need oxygen, water and proper temperature to germinate. Some seeds need proper light also while others need darkness to germinate. When a seed is exposed to the proper conditions , water and oxygen are taken in through the seed coat. Then the seed coat breaks or open and the radical ( root) emerges first , followed by the plumule that contains leaf and the stem .
