What are the consequences of civil war in India
Answers
few would know this but the american civil war was among one of the contributing factors in the establishment of the BSE and Dalal street , as someone has already stated the american civil war cutoff the supply of american cotton to the rest of the world the British decided to find a solution for this not a temporary one but a permanent one they experimented on cotton cultivation in the and they were able to make india one of the lead exporters the growth spurt made money for many hand over fist
This new spurt of wealth caused setting up of companies first centered towards the cotton industry then on any conceivable purpose possible ,This gave a boost to share trading that already existed in india from around 1830 ( by the way the first trading office was in front of the bombay townhall under a tree's shade) some prominent shares of the time were the black bay reclamantion share and the canning share , now the war ended in 1865 this is when things get interesting people rushed to sell their shares but there were no buyers as their money waned so did their authority they were harassed by the police regularly and so they moved to one location now known as dalal street and they established India's frst stock exchange called the native share and stockbrokers association and this is how the regional stock exchanges came up in india and this is also the beginning of the BSE.
hope you like the answer , because i had a great time answering it :)
