Social science is the study of the social events that occurred in the history or is currently happening now. Primary schools do not have a vast curriculum of the social events and political life. However, important events and biographies are included.
Some of them are,
- Geography of the country
- History of the country.
- Important social events like freedom fights.
- Life history of freedom fighters and famous kings.
- Basic civil rights.
- About the constitution.
The content areas of 'social science' and 'political Life' in our social sciences curriculum at upper primary level includes three teaching learning areas, namely, 'history', 'geography' and 'social and political life'. At upper primary level, the area 'social and political science' replaced the area 'civics' in present social science curriculum.
