Answer:

Conflict theory is one of the important theoretical perspectives giving an insight about the evolution of society. This theory was developed by Karl Marx who sees social life as a competition, and focuses on the distribution of resources, power, and inequality. This theory views society being divided into groups who struggle and compete against each other to exercise control over resources and rewards.

Karl Marx for instance, basically presented a critique of a capitalist system of production and industrial society, which is divided in the following:

a. Capitalist society is divided into two classes that is the Bourgeoisie ( Capitalist) and the Proletariat ( Workers). He maintains that in a capitalist society means of production are under the control of the capitalist class who use it for their benefit and accumulates all the profits. The workers are those who sell their labor in return for fixed wages and are exploited by the capitalist.

b. In a capitalist society wealth is concentrated in the hands of the Bourgeoisie who wield economic power and establish control over the state, religion, culture. The workers are the ones who do not own private property and suffer from want and poverty.

c. The existence of Private property thus divided the society between the haves and haves not where the latter were subjected to oppression and exploitation.

d.Such a system can only be overthrown by means of revolution on part of workers which will pave the way for a Socialist society whereby all the property is socially controlled.
