What are the difference between a teacher or a guru

There is no difference between a teacher or a guru they both are of same meaning... Only difference is that....
1) In hindi we call guru and in english we call teacher..
2) Mostly in villages students call teacher as guru.... But in cities or town they call as teacher only...
