The difference between autotrophic and heterotrophic nutrition are as follows:-
1. In autotrophic nutrition the organisms prepares it's food from simple substances present in the surrounding. But, the heterotrophic nutrition directly or indirectly depend on autotrophs for food.
2. Autotrophs are the producers in the food chain. But, the heterotrophs are the consumers in the food chain.
3. In autotrophs digestion doesn't take place. But, in heterotrophs digestion is an important process to be take place.
4. In autotrophic nutrition the food is not broken down in simpler substances. But, in heterotrophic nutrition the food is broken down inside the body.
5. Examples of autotrophic nutrition are: plants, some bacteria, etc. But, examples of heterotrophic nutrition are: animals, fungi, etc.
