Biomass is the energy derived from remains of living organisms such dry leaves, agricultural waste, wood shavings etc. and animal excreta such as cow dung.It is a renewable source of energy. The devices used for utilizing bio mass (chullahs, biogas plants) can be installed at all places. The use of bio-mass produces a lot of smoke. It is used for cooking, illumination etc.

Hydroelectricity is producing by the potential energy of water at height. It is also a renewable source of energy. It requires construction of dams on rivers and its plants can be built only at few places. It requires a huge investment but it is pollution free. The electricity produced can be used to run all type of electric appliances.
