What are the differences between flow of matter and of energy in an ecosystem? Why? Explain with suitable examples

flow of matter is that gases can flow easily and solid can not

● Difference between flow of matter & flow of energy through the ecosystem -
- Flow of matter is bidirectional while that of energy is unidirectional.
- Matter is transformed in the system and thus can be recycled.
- Energy is transferred to surrounding & thus can't be recycled.
- Matter is conserved but energy is lost when going to consumer level in ecosystem.
