Stocks

Stocks are those resources which are found in a particular region and have the potential to satisfy human needs, but we do not have adequate skills and technology to utilise them

Example: Abundance of water is present in Arunachal Pradesh but lacks infrastructural development

Reserves

Reserves are the stock of resources which can be put into use with the help of existing technical 'know-how', but their use has not been started

Example: river water for hydel energy
