In Selaginella, a strobilus contains both the megaspores and microspores. In Lycopodium (as well as Equisetum and Isoetes) the megaspores and microspores are in separate strobili.

Explanation:

Selaginella is a strobilus which has both megaspores and microspores. In case of lycopodium (as well as Equisetum and Isoetes) which separate the strobili contains the microspores and megaspores. A mesic Selaginella with strobilus is mesic species.

The strobiliare are often called as cones and often restricted to be termed as conifers. The lycopodium is called clubmoss, which is also known as pines ceder. The selaginella have scale leaves called ligule.
