What are the differences between the study, expenditures, etc. of air India and Indian air lines in India

Indian Airlines was the Govt Owned Domestic Airlines of India and Air India is the Govt. Owned (purchased from Tata Group) International Airlines of India.
After GoI introduced the Open Skies policy in India, a lot of private airlines came into the market. That gave a heavy competition to Indian Airlines and Air India. Eventually it made sense to merge both of them under a single name called as Air India Ltd. managed by a single management.
