What are the different shapes of cells? Explain with examples?

 \huge\underline \mathsf \purple{Answer:-}

There are different types of cells:-

  • Spherical Cells:- These cells are round in shape.For example:- Red blood Cells in Humans.
  • Spindle Cell:- These cells are elongated like a slindle.For example :-Muscle cells in humans.
  • Elongated Cell:- These cells shape are like a branch of a tree.For example:- Nerve cells in Humans.

The shape of the cell is so that it can help in its function.

For example:-

  1. Nerve cells are long and branched because they need to make contact with other nerve cells and carry signals over long distances.
  2. Muscle cells are spindle shaped because muscles contract and relax.So, spindle shape make it easier to contract and relax.

hope it helps!!

  3. Spindle-shaped (long and pointed at the two ends), as the muscle cells
  4. Elongated, thin and branched, as the nerve cells
  5. Kidney or bean-shaped, as the guard cell
  6. Long and rectangular, as the mesophyll cells in the leaf
