Their are two types of Endoplasmic reticulum

1 Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum

2. Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum functions as Protein synthesis due to presence of ribosome over it and Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum Perform the function of glycogen and lipid synthesis.

ROUGH E.R.-It helps in synthesis of proteins due to presence of ribosomes.
SMOOTH E.R.- It helps in synthesis of lipids.
