Salts are of six types:-
.Normal salts = These are formed by the complete replacement of the ionisable hydrogen atoms of an acid by a metallic or ammonium ion.
.Acid salts = These are formed by the partial replacement of the ionsible hydrogen atoms of a polybasic acid by a metal or an ammonium.
.Basic salts = These are formed by the partial replacement of the hydroxyl group of a di- or a tri- acidic base by an acid radical.
.Double salts = These are formed by the union of two simple salts that dissolve in water and crystallise.
.Mixed salts = These contain more than one basic or acid radical.
.Complex salts = These are those salts which on dissociation give one simple ion and complex ion.
