Biodegradable wastes are not harmful to the environment. In time, they get degraded and becomes a part of the ecosystem. It is the nondegradable wastes that are toxic to the environment. Biodegradable wastes if spread around in the open can act as breeding grounds for mosquitoes, flies and other vectors of diseases.
